A Topping Out Ceremony was held at the site of the SCCPSS K-12 Multi-Campus on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Board members and district staff joined construction crews working on the project for the celebration followed by lunch. A 'topping out' ceremony is a long-standing tradition of construction workers to commemorate the placement of the final steel beam.

After the traditional “signing of the beam," Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI), general contractor for the project, offered guided tours of the accessible parts of the new facility.
The expansive K-12 Multi-School project being constructed on the site of the former Groves High School in Garden City is a first for the school district. This new, state-of-the-art facility is close to 400,000 square feet and will have a capacity of 2,400 students. Students from Gould Elementary School, Mercer Middle School, and Groves High School will be housed on a single, large campus. The campus includes a digital media lab, CTAE labs for aviation and logistics as well as business and family consumer sciences.
An impressive athletics complex will be on campus also, including a football stadium with a field house and a competitive track & field area, multipurpose soccer fields, tennis courts, a high school baseball field, a high school softball field, a little league field, two indoor gyms, and more. The projected budget of the project is $118,000,000. It is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2023-23 School Year.
