The 2020 SCCPSS Graduation Schedule is now available. You can find it through a link at the bottom of this page. For
the first time, the District will utilize two venues during Graduation
Week. In addition, ceremonies will take place Monday through Thursday,
rather than Tuesday through Friday as in years past. Ceremonies on
Monday, May 18, 2020, will be held in the Johnny Mercer Theater at the Savannah
Civic Center. Ceremonies Tuesday – Thursday, May 19 – 21, 2020, will be
held in the Civic Center Arena.
In an effort to expand security protocols and enhance safety
initiatives across the district, new screening procedures have been implemented
for all district functions, including graduation exercises. The new security
protocols are for the benefit of our students, staff and all attendees, and to
keep pace with evolving best practices at public gatherings around the
country.
Screening areas will be set at the entrances to the Savannah Civic
Center. Bags will be searched and those entering will be screened using
metal detectors. If necessary, additional screening may be
conducted. Clear bags will be required as well. Each person is allowed
one (1) clear plastic bag and one (1) small clutch. Size requirements and
exceptions are attached below. Because of these additional safety
procedures, we encourage those attending graduation ceremonies to arrive early
to allow extra time before entrance to the facility. Allowing extra time
is especially important as doors will close ten minutes prior to each
ceremony and no further guests will be admitted. If you arrive after
the doors have closed, there will be overflow viewing areas provided for
attendees to watch the ceremony. ALL attendees must have a ticket to enter
the venue.
