April 2023 Student of the Month is Savannah Chatham E-Learning Academy's Isabella Evans

Published on: 5/10/2023

Our student of the month for April is a tenth grader at Savannah Chatham E-Learning Academy. She is an honor student, has perfect attendance for the 22-23 school year, and she volunteers for extracurricular activities at SCELA.  She is a member of Student Council and the Swim Team at Savannah Quarters.

Principal Brown-Hall tells us that scholar, Isabella Evans has a positive spirit and seeks to uplift both her peers and others around her. She participated in the distribution of supplies at the Greet-n-Treat held at Beach High School and she makes earrings to raise money for Haiti! Isabella also has created Sea Dragon earrings specifically for SCELA! She loves writing, and as a result, has won several writing contests to include the Veterans Affairs essay contest (twice), the Tybee Writing Contest, the Arbor Day Writing Contest, and the Black History Month Poetry Contest hosted by the Savannah Morning News.

Isabella also volunteers with Savannah Baptist Center Youth Group, and she plays piano at The Church as Godley Station. Additionally, she received the Sandy Hook Promise Award, and she has taken sign language classes with Oklahoma School for Deaf.

Her nominator said, “This young lady is a leader and a giver, and that is why she deserves to be recognized as a guiding light in the ocean of Sea Dragons."

Bella plans to attend Mercer University to major in Music or Human Services.

Isabella will be taking home multiple gifts courtesy of our community business partners – a gift card from Members First Credit Union and The Horne Law Firm. Also, she will receive a meal voucher and merchandise from Chicken Salad Chick, as well as a dozen cupcakes from J's Sweet Treats. Isabella and students of her English/Language Arts class will receive printed copies of her favorite book Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen from our sponsor E. Shaver Booksellers. Lastly, Isabella will take home a portrait by Upscale Photography provided by Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. Again, congratulations to Isabella, her family, and her school!
