At a Special Called Board Meeting on June 16, 2021, the Board approved the Recommended Tax Millage Levy of 18.131 mills
for the support and maintenance of public education in Chatham County. This represents a
.75 mill reduction. The proposed millage rate for Maintenance and Operations is in
compliance with the rollback rate calculated by the Tax Assessor as required by O. C.G.A.
48-5-32.1, and as such will not be required to be advertised as a tax increase above the
rollback millage rate.
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System continues to have one of the lowest total millage rates of any of the comparable sized school districts in Georgia. The top ten largest school districts in Georgia are listed below (Included M&O Bond).

FY 22 MILLAGE RATE AND BUDGET MEETING SCHEDULE UPDATES
The previously scheduled Public Hearings during the month of June that were adopted as part of the Board's 2021 Meeting schedule have been cancelled. The Calendar Year 2021 millage rates used in the projection of revenues for the Fiscal Year 2022 budget are 18.131 mills for maintenance (a .75 decrease in mills) and operations and 0 mills for general obligation debt, for a combined millage rate of 18.131 mills. The proposed millage rate for Maintenance and Operations is in compliance with the rollback rate calculated by the Tax Assessor as required by O. C.G.A. 48-5-32.1, and as such will not be required to be advertised as a tax increase above the rollback millage rate.
A public meeting is scheduled for the adoption of the proposed FY22 Millage Rate on June 16, 2021, at 6:30pm in the Jessie Collier DeLoach Board Room of the Whitney Administrative Complex, 2 Laura Avenue, Savannah, GA.
