Caroline Johnson is February 2022 Student of the Month

Published on: 3/2/2022

Our featured Student of the Month for the month of February is Caroline Johnson, a fifth grader at May Howard Elementary.  “Hardworking" and “conscientious," are just a few of the adjectives used to describe Caroline.  According to her principal. “She shows kindness to all students and staff. She is a wonderful example of a May Howard Hawk."

Caroline has earned honor roll or high honor roll every marking period since First Grade. Her scores show growth every time she is tested, and her daily work ethic is to be admired by teachers and students alike.  She consistently strives for excellence.  In addition, she has been recognized as a High-Flying Hawk three times for character traits – compassion, peace, and responsibility.

“Caroline is a role model for other students and is particularly helpful as a peer mentor to an ESOL student.  She strives to please her teachers and other school staff members.  She is a lifelong learner at the highest level and ready for a productive future," said her nominator.

Our student plays Chatham County Little League Fall and Spring Baseball.  Not softball…baseball. She has been the only girl on her Chatham County Little League team since the age of 6. One of this student's goals is to be the first woman to play Major League Baseball.  Her nominator said “She always strives to be the best at whatever she does. She constantly practices, ask questions, and is not afraid to seek help to reach her goals."

Caroline says, “I work hard because it makes me happy. I like to make my mom happy and I like to be successful at school."

Caroline will receive several gifts from our community partners including a gift card from Savannah Schools Federal Credit Union, a one-topping small pizza certificate donated by Donato's Pizza; a gift certificates for cupcakes from J's Sweet Creations, and her class will receive printed copies of her favorite book - Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway by Jeff Kinney - sponsored by E. Shaver Booksellers. Lastly, Caroline will take home a portrait by Upscale Photography provided by Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools.  That portrait will be in display at 208 Bull Street in the front hall. Congratulations to our student, her family, and the faculty and staff of May Howard Elementary.
