SCCPSS Lead Nurse Named GASN School Nurse Administrator of the Year

Congratulations to Lead Nurse Lisa Wilson! She and several SCCPSS nurses attended the Georgia Association of School Nurses conference in mid-June. Nurse Wilson was named the 2019 GASN Administrator of the Year.  The purpose of the GASN School Nurse Awards is to publicly recognize school nurses statewide by annually honoring one school nurse in each of three categories who demonstrate excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health.

The criteria for being named GASN Administrator of the Year include:

·         Clinical Practice Leadership

·         Administrative Leadership in

o    actively administrating school health services/school nursing services,

o   school nurse supervision including evaluation of school nurses,

o   directing school nursing services and programs

o   contributing to school health programs using unique and creative methods of program planning, implementation/management,

o   resource management

o   policy and procedure development

·         Professional Development including

o   continuing education related to administrative position,

o   providing continuing education for staff/colleagues,

o   membership in and service to professional organizations

·         Professional Advocacy Activity including

o   As a Collaborator in student care

o   Membership in professional organizations, legislative committees or other evidence of professional advocacy activity

o   Documented lobbying efforts

·         Community Involvement including

o   Participating in planning for school health services in the community

o   Membership in and service to community organizations

o   Creator/initiator of community projects

·         Research

o   Which contributed to nursing and school health

o   Presentation of research findings

o   Developed and administered research project

o   Show evidence of research application in practice and program development

o   Research project published in professional publication
