The cars rolled under a balloon arch and slowed to receive a lunch to go - prepared by the Culinary Department in the Office of College and Career Readiness - and a bag stuffed with gifts such as tools, apparel, face masks, hand sanitizer and some sweets. The joint celebration of CTAE Month and School Counseling Week seemed natural since both groups help students prepare for life after high school. Career, Technical and Agricultural Education month - February 1 - 28 - pays homage to the role CTAE plays in the economic success of our county. Understanding the needs of the business community means learning is designed to educate the employee of the future. Dr. Angie Lewis accepted a proclamation from the Chatham County Commission in recognition of the importance of CTAE to students and business.
Counselors also are vital in helping students to decide which road to take after high school. Especially during the pandemic, school counselors have doubled down on contacts with students and their families for everything from scholarships to military recruitment to social and emotional wellness. Dr. Kim McGuire said "The theme of this year's event nationally was 'All In For Students' and our team has been ALL IN this year. We are so fortunate to have the counseling staff that we do."
