Gould Elementary Students and Staff Collect and Deliver Books for Tornado Damaged Marshpoint Classrooms

Published on: 8/23/2018

Shortly after a tornado struck Marshpoint Elementary School on the evening of Friday, July 27, 2018 – Michelle Beers, a fourth grade teacher at Gould Elementary decided there was a way her school could help.  The tornado had damaged 3rd and 4th grade classrooms at Marshpoint.  Those students have been relocated to other areas of the school while repairs are underway.

The students and teachers will eventually return to their regular classrooms, but Ms. Beers was concerned about the contents of those classrooms that may have been lost.  She launched a book drive at Gould and over the span of just a couple of weeks, students and staff collected more than 400 books for those 3rd and 4th grade classrooms.

On Friday, August 17, 2018, there were lots of happy faces as Gould teachers and administrators delivered those donated books to the students and teachers at Marshpoint Elementary School!
