Lauren Magwood is September Student of the Month

Published on: 10/5/2022

Our Student of the Month for September is Lauren Magwood, a fifth grader at White Bluff Elementary. She's a High Honor Roll student, who also received the highest 4th grade score on the GMAS at White Bluff Elementary, and whose group project was the Media Festival Winner at the County and State level for 2021.

Lauren is described by her nominator as “highly motivated to succeed and passionate about learning. In addition to being a Girl Scout, she displays consistent leadership qualities and a positive attitude toward learning.   She has been a student at White Bluff Elementary since Pre-K and a member of their gifted family since kindergarten. Lauren is very deserving of this recognition. She will be greatly missed as she transitions from elementary to middle school at the end of this school year."

Lauren says that “My teachers and parents motivate me to strive for academic success." She plans to pursue a career in Marine Biology and would like to learn how to scuba dive so that she can research and explore the ocean.

Congratulations to our student, her family, and the faculty and staff of White Bluff! Special thanks to her nominator Ms. Tara Wood, Lead Gifted Teacher.

Lauren and her family were honored at the October 5 board meeting, along with her principal, Robert Lewis.  Lauren received multiple gifts from our community partners, including a gift card from Members First Credit Union as well as Horne Law. In addition, she will receive a meal voucher from Chicken Salad Chick along with some Chicken Salad Chick merchandise, and a dozen cupcakes from J's Sweet Treats. Reese and her class will receive printed copies of her favorite book, I Survived the Wellington Avalanche, 1910 by Lauren Tarshis – sponsored by E. Shaver, Booksellers. Lastly, Lauren takes home a self-portrait by Upscale Photography provided by Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. Congratulations again, Lauren!
