New Hampstead Student Recognized as Outstanding Intern by Maritime Logistics Education Taskforce

Published on: 6/17/2019

New Hampstead High School rising Senior Naomi Gores has been recognized with the 2019 Eddie Johnson MLET Award from the Maritime Logistics Education Taskforce. Naomi has been interning with international freight forwarding and customs brokerage firm John S. James since January as part of the MLET Internship Program.

The Maritime Logistics Education Taskforce was formed by the Savannah-Chatham Public School System and Chatham County’s business community as part of efforts to work together to help build a skilled workforce that will take on the hundreds of jobs available in the Maritime and Logistics industries.  The program gives career-minded students the opportunity to “earn while they learn” what it takes to be successful in and out of the classroom, and how to take steps toward an exciting career and a promising future right here at home.

Naomi Gores is well on her way to that goal with the award which will give her $1,000 and an extension of her original 10-week paid internship which will now last through her 2020 graduation.  Congratulations to this hard-working SCCPSS student!
