Woodville Tompkins Technical and Career High School has partnered with the J.W. Fanning Institute to provide a robust leadership program for students, faculty, and staff during the 2018-2019 school year.
Supported through the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s GeorgiaLEADS initiative, this program seeks to expose and reinforce leadership traits that will allow students to grow and develop into leaders in both the school and community. Students, Faculty, and Staff will use lessons from the following areas to promote their continuous growth and development:
- Understanding Leadership
- Communicating Effectively
- Appreciating Differences
- Building Teams
- Managing Conflict
- Setting Goals and Making Decisions
- Mapping Your Community
- Exercising Community Leadership
Faculty and Staff will begin training July 27th and students will begin their training sessions thereafter.
The J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, a unit of Public Service and Outreach at the University of Georgia, is dedicated to strengthening communities, organizations, and individuals through leadership development, training, and education. Founded in 1982, the Institute is named for UGA’s first Vice President for Services, Dr. J.W. Fanning. His legacy of leadership development is embodied in the Institute’s dedication to developing leaders of all ages, in every community, from all walks of life.
