Ribbon Cut at New ESPLOST Funded Savannah High Athletic Facility

Published on: 5/6/2022

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the new ESPLOST funded stadium project at the School of Liberal Studies at Savannah High.  Work on the now completed project began in September of 2020.  The new facility features a 2,000 seat Athletic stadium with a state-of-the-art LED video scoreboard.  There are also home and visitor locker rooms and weight rooms, along with energy friendly LED sports lighting.  The 8-lane “Blue Jacket Blue" polyurethane track surface that surrounds the field in designed for longevity, safety and performance.  Sports grade artificial turf is enhanced with “chill-fill" technology designed to keep the turf from getting too hot and keeps the playing field cooler.

The ability to host events in facilities owned by the district means a reduction in reliance on outside stadium rentals and may provide revenue potential as other district facilities come on line.  The projected cost of the project was $7,200,000.  See more photos from the event here.
