SCCPSS Announces District Closure due to Potentially Dangerous Weather Conditions Associated with Tropical Storm Isaias

Published on: 8/2/2020

ALL DISTRICT FACILITIES CLOSED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2020

SCCPSS officials continue to monitor the track of Tropical Storm Isaias in consultation with the Chatham Emergency Management Agency and information from the National Weather Service.  The current expected track of the storm is projected to bring dangerous weather conditions to our area.  We are expecting impacts that could include heavy rain, wind and flooding.  As a result, the decision has been made to close all buildings and District facilities on Monday in the interest of safety for our staff.  All athletic practices will also be canceled for Monday. Any appointments scheduled at District offices on Monday will need to be rescheduled.

Throughout this weather event, only essential District Staff will be required to report to work as notified by his/her Supervisor. The start date for SCCPSS teachers will be moved to Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

Once again, all buildings and District facilities (including the District’s Central Office located at 208 Bull Street) will be closed Monday, August 3, 2020 due to the anticipated impacts associated with Tropical Storm Isaias.  All athletic practices are also canceled Monday and the teacher start date for the 2020-21 school year will be shifted to Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
