Savannah Arts Students Enjoy Language Immersion Program in Spain

Published on: 7/11/2019

A group of 13 enthusiastic Savannah Arts Academy students spent time in Spain this summer for a first-time Summer Camp/Cultural Immersion Program accompanied by teachers Airam Gutierrez and Ana Zurita.

In addition to attending 4 hours of class daily, led by native Spanish speaking teachers at the Clic Language School, students benefitted from the experience of total immersion with Spanish families in  beautiful Seville, Spain. The program included visits to different cities such as Madrid, Cordoba, Granada, and the beaches at Huelva over the students time exploring the country. The students also participated in afternoon activities such as riding, kayaking, pottery, flamenco, movies, music, and more!

Participating students will receive a Certificate reflecting their 40 hours of intensive instruction that can boost resumes for their college applications.  SAA Spanish teacher and group organizer Ana Zurita, believes that this type of program is indispensable to complete the study of a second language and hopes this study abroad program will grow in the future throughout Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
