“Peace, Love & School Lunch" Campaign highlights #NSLW22
To recognize the National School Lunch Program, serving nearly 30 million children each day, Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 10-14, 2022. The fun and creative campaign theme, “Peace, Love & School Lunch," highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch to a student's success both in and out of the classroom.
Research shows children are getting their healthiest meals at school. National School Lunch Week will highlight the nutritious foods available daily at Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. Throughout the month and the week, we will feature menu items such as Honey Stung Roasted Chicken, Broccoli Soup with a sub sandwich, Walking BBQ Nachos, and an Ethiopian cuisine themed cabbage/potato recipe along with a host of fresh fruits and vegetables.
“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium," said Onetha Bonaparte, Senior Director of School Nutrition. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program."
The federally funded National School Lunch Program (NSLP) has been fueling students for success for 75 years, providing nutritionally balanced, healthy meals to students every day. Students may qualify for free or reduced-price meals by completing a free and reduced meal application. Please contact our office at 912-395-5548 for details.
The “Peace, Love & School Lunch" campaign is made possible by the nonprofit School Nutrition Association and Kellogg's. Parents and students can follow the fun on social media using the hashtags #NSLW22, #PeaceLoveSchoolLunch and #SchoolLunch.
