The Savannah Sports Council hosted the 2021 Georgia Power Sports Awards luncheon at the Charles H. Morris Center May 11.  The event recognizes local athletes, coaches and partners who have excelled at their given sport during the year.

Savannah High School boys basketball coach and athletic director Tim Jordan received the John F. Hodges O.A.S.I.S. Award for outstanding achievement in sports in Savannah.  The award is given in memory of John F. Hodges, a former member of the Sports Council and a lover of all things in Savannah sports.  Hodges died in 2000.

Coach Jordan became the varsity head basketball coach for the 1995-96 season, won the GHSA Class 4A state championship in 1998, was runner-up in two other seasons and passed the 500-win milestone during the 2018-19 campaign. He was named the Athletic Director of the Year in 2020.

Shailyn Frazier received a scholarship for her achievements on the basketball court and in the classroom.  Shailyn helped lead the girls basketball team to its first region title, earned a 4.0 grade-point average and is class valedictorian. Frazier said she will attend Mercer University and major in biology to become a pediatric cardiologist.
