Two Windsor Forest Elementary Teachers Awarded CFP Extra Yard Grants by Georgia Southern

Published on: 10/23/2019

This year, Georgia Southern University Athletics and the College of Education partnered with The College Football Playoff Extra Yard for Teachers Initiative to show appreciation for teachers in Bulloch, Chatham and Liberty Counties where GSU has campuses.

Sixteen $500 classroom improvement grants are being awarded to deserving teachers based on grant applications and itemized budgets submitted in September.  Two of those sixteen grants have been awarded to two Windsor Forest Elementary teachers!  VeCynthia Parker and Margarita Pomare-McDonald were surprised in their classrooms this week.

They were selected for the awards after submitted proposals were reviewed by GSU College of Education faculty and students.  The teachers will be honored on the field at Georgia Southern’s football game this weekend. See video from the moments they were surprised and hear them talk about their plans to use the grants here.
