Windsor Forest Elementary Students Receive Hands-on Fire Safety Lessons

Published on: 9/10/2019

First and second grade students at Windsor Forest Elementary School took part in a fire safety day sponsored by The Hartford Insurance Company and the Savannah Fire Department.  As part of the event, The Hartford brought the company’s Mobile Fire Safety House to the school and deputized more than 200 students as Junior Fire Marshals!

The event included a simulated fire and smoke demonstration in the safety house after students received training on how to respond.  There was also an opportunity to meet local firefighters and tour a fire truck.  The Hartford has donated $20,000 to Savannah for fire safety as the city ranks No. 20 among 200 U.S. cities with the highest home fire risk according to The Hartford’s Home Fire Index

The Hartford holds Junior Fire Marshal events in cities with high risk to help those communities achieve higher levels of safety and educate children about the importance of fire safety and prevention.
