Woodville Tompkins Spanish Teacher Bertha Delgadillo was named Georgia's World Language Teacher of the Year for 2023-24 at the Foreign Language Association of Georgia's Annual Conference in Atlanta on Saturday, March 11, 2023. F.L.A.G. is an association of instructors, administrators, and others involved in foreign language teaching and the promotion of cultural understanding. The basic goal of FLAG is to improve and foster the teaching of foreign languages and cultures (including literature) through service to the teachers in the state.

The Teacher of the Year award recognizes teachers who effectively strive to use various strategies, techniques, and materials to enhance the students' interest in, acquisition of, and proficiency in a second language.
Ms. Delgadillo attended the presentation with her Principal, Mr. Alfred McGuire and the district's World Languages Specialist, Dr. Mark Linsky, along with several of her colleagues from SCCPSS schools. She expressed her appreciation for their support, “They have continuously believed and invested in me and my ideas year after year. They have always pushed me to challenge my growth over the years in more ways than I can count. I will continue to reflect on my practice so that I may better serve my learners. I want to thank our district, especially the Professional Learning and Instructional Technology Departments for consistently offering quality & dynamic professional development as many of these have impacted my practice over time."
