Woodville Tompkins teacher Bertha Delgadillo was
surprised in her
classroom Friday, March 15th when representatives of the National
Life Group, family members and colleagues showed up to announce that she had
been named a National LifeChanger award winner.
The National Life Group Foundation who sponsors the award, received 832
nominations from across the country for the honor. Ms. Delgadillo is one of only 15 educators to
be named a national award winner.
LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 public and private school educators and employees across
the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students
by exemplifying excellence, positive influence
and leadership. In order to be selected as a LifeChanger of
the Year winner, nominees must demonstrate the following:
- Make a positive impact in
the lives of students
- Enhance
their school or district's atmosphere, culture and
pride
- Demonstrate exemplary leadership at the
school and/or district level
- Possess a
proven record of
professional excellence
- Show commitment to building
a nurturing environment that supports learning
- Adhere to the
highest
moral and ethical
standards
Ms. Delgadillo received a $3,000 award - $1500
for herself and $1500 for her school. Her
nominator was fellow Woodville Tompkins teacher Christopher Lecount. The
winners were chosen by a committee of past winners and education professionals.
