ESPLOST II - Project Highlights

On Tuesday, November 8, 2011 the citizens of Savannah-Chatham County passed the continuation of the 1% Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referred to as ESPLOST II.

ESPLOST I - Project Highlights

On September 19, 2006, the citizens of Chatham County approved an Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST).

White Bluff Elementary

The modern, multi-million dollar project will include a full administrative suite, cafetorium with adjoining courtyard, gymnasium, state of the art library/learning commons, music and art rooms, special education rooms and classrooms.

Islands High School Stadium

The Islands High School Stadium holds 2,000 spectators and boasts a state-of-the-art digital scoreboard, as well as exciting lighting capabilities and equipped lockers for Home and Away teams.

Groves K-12 School

The plan will create a consolidated campus for a new 1,400 student elementary and middle school, as well as a 1,000 student high school.

Jenkins STEM High School

The $66M, 239,000 square foot, two-story high school will be located directly behind the existing Jenkins High School and will consist of a gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, shooting range, energy labs with solar panels, and a media center.

Woodville Tompkins Gym & Auditorium

The existing gymnasium at the school will be converted into a multi-million dollar high school auditorium. A new gymnasium is also planned for construction.

Brock Elementary School

The school will be approximately 96,000 square feet in size and will include classrooms; a gymnasium; kitchen and cafeteria with a stage; media center with a computer lab; art room; music room; teacher workrooms and resource rooms.

Coastal Middle School Gym

The addition is approximately 17,500 square feet in size and includes a gymnasium with boys and girls locker rooms. The gym has a hardwood floor with bleachers that can accommodate up to 800 people.

Isle of Hope K-8 School

The new school stands on the grounds of the former facility. One side is two stories to fit 40 classrooms, 4 science classrooms, a media center, computer lab, and music & art rooms. Students can look forward to a gymnasium and a kitchen and dining area.

Rice Creek K-8 School

Settled in the Rice Hope residential development area, the new Rice Creek School’s contemporary design is fitting for 3rd through 8th grade students.

Hodge Elementary School

The new Hodge Elementary facility suits kindergarten through 5th grade students. With 43 classrooms, a gymnasium, media center, and a computer lab, students will be well-prepared to get the most of their school experience.

Islands High School Gymnasium

The gymnasium includes a hardwood playing surface; varsity locker rooms; a weight room; two health classrooms; and an open lobby with a concession area and public restrooms.

Heard Elementary School

This project started with twelve new classrooms for 1st and 2nd grade classes. The second phase is 13,239 square feet of additions.

Hesse K-8 School

The new K-8 school is the home of a two-story wing with 58 classrooms, 4 science classrooms, work rooms for teachers, and additional resource rooms. Art and music classrooms are also included.

May Howard Elementary

The new May Howard is a 105,000 square foot replacement structure to better serve students and faculty. With a $22 million budget, the 2-story facility houses 46 classrooms, Administrative Spaces, Media Center, and Cafeteria.

Andrea B. Williams Elementary

The design of this pre-K through 5th grade school serves as an anchor of the Savannah’s Eastside. It includes core academic spaces, computer labs, a media center, visual/performing arts labs, administration suites, dining facilities, and a gymnasium.
