Students will MAP test remotely from their home devices over the next two-weeks. Please make sure you familiarize yourself with the testing dates/times and how to ready your child's device for testing (Chromebooks/laptops and iPads have different steps). Students will have ample time to finish the assessment on its scheduled day. During the scheduled testing session, students can take as many breaks as needed. Just communicate with the teacher using the Zoom or Teams chat box before the break and when you come back. Below you will find the testing schedule and information on what parents need to do BEFORE testing begins. If your child CANNOT test during the scheduled times below, please contact your teacher ASAP so alternative arrangements can be made. On the days your child tests, they will have an alternative schedule. Testing students will not have regularly scheduled classes. After testing is completed, they will work independently for the remainder of the day.
Finally, once your child is logged on and testing, PLEASE do not help your child read words they don't know, passages, and/or answer questions. This is an adaptive test, meaning it will only get harder the more questions they get right. In the same vein, it also gets easier as they answer questions incorrectly, until they find questions that are just right for them (think Goldilocks and the Three Bears). This data will ONLY be used to help inform teacher instruction and allow the district to measure learning loss from COVID-19. These scores WILL NOT be used for class placement, benchmarks, Choice Programs, gifted placement, etc.
If you have any further questions, contact your child's teacher.
