The Animal Care staff at Oatland Island Wildlife Center works to provide daily enrichment for the animals in our care. Enrichment can range from sensory to physical to audio and everything in between. Our goal is to provide new choices for our animals and create stimulating experiences.
Each animal painting is unique and created on cardstock or canvas with non-toxic safe paint. We create a positive voluntary opportunity for the animals during our painting sessions. The enrichment painting do not occur an a scheduled reoccurring time and is an occasional treat for both the keepers and animals.
Each animal painting is guaranteed to be unique, and the colors will vary. We cannot ensure each one will look specifically like any of the photos shown. When visiting Oatland Island, please stop by the front desk in the Welcome Center to see the current selection of animal paintings available.
Your purchase includes: a flat canvas or cardstock painting and a photo of the animal artist.

What animal paintings do you primarily have available?
Currently, we are only working with our snakes, gopher tortoises, alligators, opossums and armadillos to create these masterpieces. Occasionally we also work with our grey wolves, Holstein cow and foxes.
Can I request a specific animal for a painting?
We want our animals to be comfortable and happy with the painting process and will not subject an animal to create a painting if they do not want to participate. At this time, the animals listed indicate our current selections. If we have other limited-edition animal paintings, we will update our Facebook page with more information and availability.
Can I choose the colors for a painting?
The artwork done by the animals of Oatland Island is done as an enrichment session and the colors of each piece vary, because we do not create these on a request basis and our priority is animal enrichment, we cannot accommodate specific colors. We do try and create a variety of colors with each of the species and hope we find something you like.
Can I see the available selections of paintings before I buy one online?
Due the volume of requests we receive and the varying times of art enrichment, our inventory of paintings is very fluid and it is not possible to see the individual pieces online.
Can I purchase an animal painting online and have it shipped to me?
Yes! Pricing does not include the cost of shipping and handling. When requesting your animal painting, please let us know the address you wish to have your package shipped to and we will send an email invoice and ship your masterpiece once paid in full.
Whom does the proceeds from these paintings benefit?
The keepers at Oatland Island strive for the best quality of care and life for our animals. The funds from these animal paintings directly go back to the animals in the form of enrichment and supplies for the care of our animals.
